In good news we will be open this Friday and Saturday from 5pm. We are all ready and rearing to go.
Come down and try the food.
I was thinking that if Goodbye Blue Monday manifested Tim’s personality, then I reckon Smash Palace represents Greg. I should have known better when I said I wanted to do a bar that was like Gypsies had come to town.
Think about this when you come down for a look and see the Flathead V8 that he managed to squeeze through the caravan door using a Ford Falcon as a sledgehammer.
With all due respect to Jock, Ramon (AKA Soul Sister), Walshie, Phil, Lee and everyone else that has thrown tools about on site; I think it’s fair to say that Greg has built most of Smash Palace himself.
He drove the digger that put 100 tonnes of shingle into the section. He ripped the seats out of the bus and drove it down. He erected the portable buildings and built the whole kitchen interior. He welded the gates, foundations, handrails, power box…
Seriously, sometimes I’m amazed by the guy’s skill set and problem solving abilities. When there is no metalwork to do, he’ll even turn his hand to bodgie woodworking. He says he doesn’t like wood because it’ll catch fire if you try to weld it, but he still smashed out a compliant step prior to final Council inspection.
I think Greg is great and I can’t think of anybody better to have their personality represented in a bar. I hope you all like it.
